APRIL and POETRY MONTH....Day 24

Saturday is here! I get to visit with my husband today. I found out I’m also scheduled to see him on Sunday. I think a mistake was made by scheduling, but I’m not complaining.
Today’s blog will be short.
I have to work on some Amvets stuff for next week. I try to get all the daily ads done in one day; then all I need to do is post it each day.  Seems next week there are a few more than usual with special events and meetings.
My pieces were ramblings from my mind.  But the daily word piece ROLLER
SKATES is from my real life.  I remember so well those old metal skates that you clamped over your shoes.   You tighten them with a metal key to fit snuggly on your shoes.  I like the fact they were adjustable to fit your feet as you grew older.  The pair I owned I had for a few years. Living in Chicago we’d skate away on the sidewalks.  Sometimes racing to the corner store for treats.  As I got older I’d rent skates at the roller rink.  In my twenties, I had indoor-outdoor skates.  I did not use them much and gave them away.  Roller skating was a fun summer activity next to bike riding.
It’s Saturday so I hope you enjoy your day.
Until tomorrow....think about any fond childhood memories you did that kids don’t seem to do these days like sidewalk skating; and as always Stay Safe.

                      SOMEDAY
Flabbergasted....all I can say
  Stunned at the actions
Astonished indeed
Amazed some people so cold hearted
They have no concern about others
Arrogant defines them best
Karma will visit them someday

                COOL and HOT
 A cool early morning breeze
  The sun hidden by clouds
Strolling along the white sandy beach
    shoreline
I feel at peace....the waves rolling to
    shore splash my feet
Cold but refreshing waters give me
     a chill
But I know by mid-morning the sun
will warm the sand and my feet

          SKATING the DAY AWAY
The old metal skates over my shoes
I had them for years....adjusting the
skate to fit my growing foot size
Tighten them with the metal key as not
     to fall off my feet
Skating on the sidewalks of Chicago
      summer fun
The key tied on a red ribbon
    worn around my neck
Racing others to the mom and pop
  store for popsicles or candy
Falling down....scraping my knees
  I would just get up
Continue to skate the day away

     WACKY HOLIDAYS APRIL 23rd
(National Cherry Cheesecake Day;
  National English Muffin Day; National
Picnic Day and National Take a
  Chance Day)

                  PLANS FOR TODAY
Taking a chance today
   and going on a picnic
Just hope it doesn’t rain
Think I’ll make egg and ham salad
  sandwiches on toasted English
  muffins
  Have cherry cheesecake and fresh
    fruit for dessert
A plan indeed....I must remember to
      wear my red
