So it’s again 3:30am. I hate these waking at weird times. I decided that must be my blog time now. I always have my poems already done when I begin this part of the blog.
Yesterday I woke up to the sound of birds. It triggered the MUSIC of MORNING piece. I had typed it as I sat in bed before getting up for the day. I pictured what goes on (as I’ve seen) outside my window; joggers running down the street, cyclists biking as an individual takes a easy walk.
After I got on Facebook I saw Terry’s
daily word challenge which was BEES and BIRDS. It was funny since I already wrote about birds. So I wrote another piece for the challenge focusing on birds. I used bees separately and came up with BEE-ISTORY; a short history explaining the purpose of the bees. It was a fun fact piece to do.
The first piece JACK to THE RESCUE comes from real experience. I have had the Jack Daniels Tennessee Fire whiskey at home. Funny but I was never a fan of Jack Daniels but an acquaintance said I’d probably like this better than Fireball. He was quite correct. Now if I have a bourbon it was usually Jim Beam Red Stag black cherry brand. So I decided to write this piece about cheating on Jim with Jack. A whimsical piece indeed.
Yesterday I read poems by Robert Burns. The one by him was quite long about twenty-eight stanzas. It was called “Halloween”. The other was by John Keats called “Ode on Melancholy”.
For some reason that sounded like a good piece for the moods I’ve been in recently.
I just think of a poet to read and I go with the flow.
As I type this a few things popped into my head and now I’ll be already working on today’s poem a day. Funny how things do work out. I’ll probably not get back to sleep now.
Hope you enjoy the day.
Until tomorrow....find a poet and read a poem or two; as always Stay Safe.

JACK to THE RESCUE
Jack came to my rescue
Cause I was feeling down
He made me feel better
A smile took place of a frown
I can always count on Jack
Mr. Daniels is never mean
I have no rhyme or reason
Why I am these days
Cheating on Mr. Jim Beam

MUSIC of MORNING
Birdsong outside my window
awakens me to a new day
The sun not yet risen
as I step outside for a
casual morning stroll
A slight chill in the air
as I head towards Lake Jackson
Joggers.....
bicyclists biking....
hurrying past me
Enjoying my slow pace walk
I listen to melodies of nature
as birds sing to me
on a chilly April Monday

🐝🌼🐝🌼BEE-ISTORY🌼🐝🌼🐝
Buzzing bees pollinating the flowers
keeping the circle of life turning
Flittering from petal to petal
plant to plant
Doing their job for nature
they are essential in growth of
crops and plants
as soil, water and sunshine
Busy bees buzzing as they work
for us all
