NATIONAL POETRY MONTH....Day 11

I enjoy baseball especially when it first begins and then during the playoffs.  What I like to see is how my teams that I follow are doing the first weeks of the new season.  Over the years I’ve composed pieces about baseball for some reason.  After seeing the final score late last evening for my one team I became disappointed.  They’ve been doing really good but suffered a huge loss yesterday.  I thought about games (minor league ones) I attended in the past.  I remember spring training ones I’ve seen.  The boys of summer put on a good show every time they play.  It was late last night/early morning that I began doing today’s piece. The other team I follow won their game.  Today both my teams are traveling and will be playing tomorrow; I won’t be checking scores today.
Baseball the great America pastime as they say.
Until tomorrow....enjoy the day.

  One hundred sixty-two games played
    by thirty teams
From late March to late September

     They hit the ball....
          They catch the ball....
              They run the bases....
And try to steal bases if possible
Fouls, strikes, balls, home runs
Errors, ERAs, top of the inning and bottom
       of the inning
terms heard throughout the season
Pitcher, catcher, shortstop, center, right and  left fielders, first, second and third baseman make up the team
Peanuts....hot dogs....cold beer
vendors shout as they stroll through the
           stadium
Fans stand for the National Anthem
   First pitch thrown
Top of the first inning commences
Boos, jeers and cheers for plays good
             and bad
Seventh inning stretch....many stand
working out kinks from sitting too long
Nine innings played.....sometime more
Boys of summer give the fans a good show
      each game played
