It’s NATIONAL POETRY MONTH. I did not have time to begin my month post prior but will begin today.
I began a challenge to write a poem day back in 2012 and again in 2013. In 2014 I published the collection of poems into a book. The past few years I did the challenge again and this year no different. Many of the poems in my challenge have come from events in my life; what is going on during the day, something I observed or just felt. One can say I’m composing my memoirs or life story at times through verse.
Today’s poem did not come from a rain storm but from my neighbor who had put out a sprinkler watering his lawn. As I pulled into my driveway the water hit my car and made few puddles on my driveway. It somehow triggered today’s piece.
Who knows what the next days will bring.
Enjoy today’s.

DAY THREE
“A GIRL in RED”
© Scottie-ann Murphy
Rain showers of April quench the earth
That’s awakening after a long winters sleep
Against my window.....upon my roof I hear the rain
Spring rain cleansing the air.....washing away the pollen....if only for a short while
Puddles on the sidewalk.....on the street
on my driveway....how I’d to splash in them during my youth
I reminisce of days long gone.....days of innocence....
Rain showers gently watering the earth
A red raincoat, red rain bonnet, red boots and red umbrella
Walking along in the rain....twirling the umbrella ☂ as I splash in the puddles
Frolicking along the street....going no where special
No cares in the world....no worries to clog the brain
Just a rainy April day for a young girl decked out in red
