NATIONAL POETRY MONTH.....Day 21

It’s Easter Sunday.  Yesterday I said I may not post my poems in the blog today but changed my mind.  I awoke and got my piece for the day complete.  It all came to me as I sat on the bed while my husband prepared breakfast.
After church there’s usually a ham lunch but this year we’re changing things up.  Instead of ham we will have kielbasa with sides of macaroni salad, potato salad and baked beans.  This afternoon I plan to take a plate of summer sausage, plate of kielbasa and two boxes of chocolates to the veteran’s club where I’m a member.  They’re having an Easter lunch for those who have no place to go for the holiday.  It’s a nice thing they do for holidays such as Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.   Even though I do not generally eat there, I try to take something to put out on the food table.  Those who come for the meal are appreciative to have someplace to go to enjoy the day.
A few years ago I wrote the piece
“Hyacinths”.   It is funny as after I wrote today’s poem I looked back and saw the piece “Hyacinths” back in 2012.  I guess it’s something I find funny how I repeat some things.  I guess too I love having a hyacinth or two in the house even though they trigger my allergies.  It’s one time of year I don’t care my allergies are bothering me.
Enjoy your Easter.

Pink, purple and white blossoms
   will soon bloom
A sweet scent will the house
  with a lovely fragrance
They are yet to open their lovely
buds.... but I patiently wait
Perhaps tomorrow I will awake to
an aroma that is not coffee

The scent of hyacinths filters through the
         air
A sweet perfume greets me as I awake
The coffee aroma not present today
Their fragrance overpowering the frying of
      bacon....the baking of cinnamon rolls
My husband prepares a hearty Easter
       morning breakfast
 The hyacinths full bloom now....
     causing watery eyes....a stuffy nose
my allergies triggered by the lovely plant
Happens every year.....but I can
never resist this flower on Easter Sunday
