So today an acquaintance is having a birthday. He’s a really nice guy and like me a ‘work horse’ for organizations where he belongs. In fact I personally think he’s an even bigger ‘work horse’ then me. Not that he’s bigger in stature but he’s a hard worker. I wanted to cheer him up today and give him a smile so I sent him this piece I wrote years ago. I think I wrote it for either my husband or another male friend having a birthday. I believe some of the words ring true. Age is just a number and one is always as old as they feel. I’ve sent this to different people over the years. Thought I’d use it as the posted poem today in honor of my acquaintance birthday. He got a chuckle from it.
Enjoy your Friday.
ONLY NUMBERS
©Scottie-ann Murphy
Age is only a number….
Sometimes one digit, sometimes two
And if you are lucky enough three
One can look old and wise
But inside still feel youthful as the years pass
As long as you think, feel and act young
The outside appearance does not matter
You may find a few things harder to do….
But……
That is part of the aging process
Who cares if you are unable to perform all night
It is the quality of the performance that matters
Bedtime at eleven in the evening
No problem….all the good shows end at that time
The news can wait until the next morning
Who wants to fall off into dreamland
hearing another crime has been committed?
More than four drinks make you woozy?
The doctors say more than two are way too many
Wings, pizza and tacos keep you awake
with heartburn or tummy ache?
Solution….
Have then at lunch or before three
You can’t remember where you are going
when you get in the car?
Make a To-Do-List
and
DON’T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT
So today is another birthday…..
Have a great one…if you can remember how!
