NATIONAL POETRY MONTH....Day 14

As part of the challenge in 2012 I realized the evening of Day 14 I had not worked on my daily challenge of a poem a day.  I was at a karaoke when I realized this.  As I always carry a notebook with me I pulled it out and began to write.  This came to me after my disaster at singing a song. I called it “Lessons Learned” as I did learn a few things that night.  Make sure if I take the challenge to compose a verse a day I get it done and secondly don’t try to sing a song that does not suit your voice.
So far it’s been an uphill battle to get my 2019 challenge done each day but I’ll do it.
Until tomorrow...enjoy your day

I sat in the bar on karaoke night
and did not write my poem if the day
Listen to wannabe Loretta Lynn’s and
      Sinatra’s
    while drinking the night away
My named got called by the DJ
went to the stage to sing my song
Halfway through I realized for my
   voice....the arrangement was all wrong
Could not hit the high notes,
should have sung in a lower key
After my three minutes of fame.
no applause but a round of raspberries
I will never be a singer and now I sure
    do know it
Instead I’ll sit in the bar, write in my journal
   and become an unknown poet
