Hello! It’s Tuesday. As a Facebook friend called it one day, Monday’s ugly sister. Today is National Coffee Day and at the moment on cup number one. I’m on the last days of FALL acrostic pieces. Today I wrote about the last leaves falling. I never liked seeing that. It always meant winter was sneaking up behind autumn. I wrote the
AUTUMN as I thought about living up in Pennsylvania and trees outside my window. I’d love looking at the colors but not how the yard looked as leaf by leaf fell. I did love how after the leaves turned brown they’d crunch as you walked on them.
Today I’m sharing another Halloween story involving my husband. We happen to be talking about it a few days ago and I decided to share. I have a really funny two part story as they were what occurred from one year to the next but related. Stay reading for this in the coming days.
One Halloween my husband dressed up like an old woman. He had on a gray wig, old grandmother (circa 1960’s) dress, house slippers, makeup and women’s glasses (non-prescription lenses). I came home from work and practically fell over laughing when I saw him.
We always let trick-or-treaters into the front room near the door to pick out a soda from the ice chest. We use to give out cans of sodas instead of candy. The kids would drink the soda if thirsty. It worked out well. Well as it was a woman came inside with her two kids. At the same time my older step-daughter was there with her daughter. As she was leaving she told her daughter now tell grandpa goodbye and thank you. Well the granddaughter runs over to my husband to hug him and she says goodbye grandpa. The woman who just came inside with the two kids stood there with a shock expression. She said to the granddaughter “grandpa? You mean grandma don’t you?” Well granddaughter says to the woman no this is grandpa; then pointed to me and said she’s grandma. That poor woman was more confused then ever. She looked at my husband and began to laugh. Here the woman and the two kids actually thought my husband was a woman. She told my husband it was one of the best old lady costumes she’d ever seen. She asked who made him up and he said he did it all himself.
It was great he had her fooled. In fact he fooled a few others as well.
One just never knows what will happen on Halloween.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Until tomorrow....as always Stay Safe.

VIEW FROM THE WINDOW

As I look out at the window on this sunny
October afternoon
Unique colorful leaves are covering the
front yard
They descend quietly onto the ground from
the elm and oak trees
Until the last leaf falls, I’ll enjoy the vibrant
colors of the trees
Many hues of brilliant red, yellow and
orange
Needing to rake eventually, I’ll wait till
the trees all are bare
