JANUARY 30th

The word for yesterday was perfect for the day. One of the wacky/weird holidays yesterday was NATIONAL CURMUDGEON
DAY.  The word was curmudgeon.  When I saw the word, the piece I wrote popped into my notes app.  One of my favorite Christmas stories is “A Christmas Carol”.  I read it every December.  I found it was still active on my device (on my Kindle); I did not remove it to my cloud of books I read and can download to active reading status again.  I notice it the previous night and the thought of the story stayed fresh in my head.  When I posted my Holiday Countdown on Facebook for Friday, I thought of Scrooge as a curmudgeon.  When Terry saw it, she decided to use curmudgeon as the word of the day.   It was simple to put my spin on the man who hated Christmas and most everyone.
Actually I’m hooked on the Scrooge character and story.  I’ve watched over the years many adaptations of the theme.  I’ve enjoyed them all.
I realize finally why my January 28th was so chaotic; a full moon.   Did not realize it till Friday morning.  At least my Friday was a tad better.  Not sure about today though.
As for the curmudgeon word; I have known and possibly know a few these days.
I think of the Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon characters in the movie “Grumpy
Old Men” when I think of a curmudgeon.   Those were two funny movies; two great actors.
Today one of the wacky/weird holidays is National Croissant Day; yes I had a croissant 🥐 for breakfast.
Until tomorrow....it’s Saturday and the weekend begins.  Think about those curmudgeons you may know as you enjoy your croissant and as always Stay Safe.

                      THE CRAB

Scrooge appeared to be a crusty old man
   when the story first opened
A miser who did nothing to help others
or be kind to his fellow man
Ill-tempered to his own employee
who worked hard for the old man
Grouchy to his only family member
A cranky unhappy individual
even though he had material wealth
But it took three spirits one Christmas Eve
     night
to change Ebenezer from a curmudgeon
Into a warmhearted individual capable of
caring and a benefactor to those in need
