NEW YEAR BEGINS....Day 3

The odd word challenge for January second was CATTYWAMPUS.

Personally I love that word as much as skedaddle.  I’m planning to try to use it more in fact, both of them.  I am looking forward to more of the odd words this month.
July the twenty-eight I had use obsolete odd words in two pieces I composed and posted in this blog.  As I looked back on my writings for that day, I laughed.  I remembered the two pieces were indeed fun to compose.  Funny that there are words we seldom use as it seems we use the same over and over again.
I am an avid reader.  As one who reads quite a bit, I noticed some authors like using certain phrases and words in their works.  I’m reading one at the moment who seems to be doing so.  I find her descriptions very well put; her explanation of certain circumstances quite real.  Words I feel have to be used properly.  I’ve seen and read passages that are not used correctly in my opinion.  Every writer I’ve found has a certain way to convey their story and messages; they have certain words they like to use.
I’m also reading an author who uses some real life people as characters.  She is using their real life names but in her novels, makes them a minor character and gives them different professions.
I have recently been acknowledging family, friends and acquaintances for their inspiration in what I compose.  My neighbors cat has had a few pieces during the past year.  Fran also had been inspiring she just doesn’t know it. One of my favorite inspirations is not a person but a place for my lake pieces; Harveys Lake, Pennsylvania has inspired the rainy day pieces of this past year.  The cottage is a figment of my imagination as the persons in the pieces.
Next time you read a certain author, look for certain word phrases or words they use again and again.
Until tomorrow....my mind feels quite confuzzled at the moment; and as always Stay Safe.

                WHERE’S THE PHONE
(For Fran Marron-Harper; she felt this
            was her desk)

Her desk was so cattywampus
She can not find a thing
Under piles of junk and papers
She heard the cellphone ring
Moved a magazine to the left
Then moved it to the right
Stacks of paper seem to multiply
It was not a pretty sight
The phone it kept on ringing
Why didn’t it just stop
She could find the cell phone
In the mess on her desk top

                NOTHING NEW

Catawampusly the shelves and aisles
It’s difficult trying to get around
to search for the item I want to purchase
Will I find it?  Who knows!
Seemed like a whirlwind swept through the
       store
I’ll be fortunate to locate anything in this
    clutter
     that’s definitely certain
But it happens every January
   when the holidays end
and seventy-five percent off sales begin
