Short read for you today!
The word for January first was SKEDADDLE.
As I thought about the word it all came together when I stopped at the AMVETS yesterday. I noticed a karaoke was to take place today; something I use to enjoy. Then I remembered we are doing social distancing and many patrons are masked when they stop by. The server talked about how she enjoyed working the night of karaoke; but shifts had changed when the first COVID lockdown occurred. It all came together about being at the club, being distant from others and leaving to go home due to the fact hard to hold conversation when one is sitting too far from another. I pulled out my phone, click on the note app and typed the piece using today’s odd word.
There are times that inspiration comes in strange ways. This was one of them.
I began my first goal yesterday; one day down three hundred and sixty four to go.

It’s time for me to skedaddle
I’ve been here way to long
Don’t want to sing karaoke
Since someone already sung my song
So it’s time for me vamoose
Get my act together and go
Why I ever came out this evening
That’s one answer I’ll never know
Everyone is wearing a mask
We’re sitting apart by at least six feet
Instead of talking to one another
It’s just send a text, message and tweet
Skedaddling now is what I’ll do
Go home and perhaps watch tv
Have a beer and a shot or two
Peanut nut butter whiskey it will be
